To celebrate 90 years of Cutty Sark, the brand asked us to create a special release. They tasked us with creating a premium bottling and roll out that brought the brands new messaging to life.
In keeping with the newly coined ‘Spirit of Adventure’ strapline, we created a pack and campaign celebrating the bold and rebellious. Pulling from the brands rich history, we brought the story of Captain William Mccoy to life.
The prohibition edition pays homage to notorious Captain Mccoy who famously smuggled Cutty Sark blended scotch whisky into America during the prohibition era of the 1920’s.
INSPIRED BY HISTORICAL PACKAGING AND GRAPHICS WE CRAFTED AN AUTHENTIC DESIGN REMINISCENT OF THE 1920’S. WE BROUGHT A HANDCRAFTED AND VINTAGE FEEL THROUGH THE USE OF DISTINCT AND DIVERSE TYPOGRAPHY.
We created a label using black ink on cream paper as a nod towards the 1920s heritage. The bespoke black glass gave the product a premium feel and distinguished it from other products within the brands range. We chose a cork seal to reflect the traditions of the prohibition time period.
Bringing an old world tactile feel to the secondary packaging, we housed the bottles in aged wooden shipping crates adorned in vintage stencilled graphics.
Alongside the studio pack shots, we created atmospheric product photography reflective of the famous sea voyage. Reinforcing the story, we showcased the bottles as though they were washed up by the sea.
