To celebrate the release of their 50 year old bottling, Tamdhu asked us to create a bespoke plinth for Heathrow airport that would capture the busy travel retail market. It was crucial that the activation had desirable cues and reflected luxury.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

We wanted to hero the liquid and showcase the product like a rare precious object. We created a plinth that only exhibited the handcrafted glass decanter and no other element of the packaging as we knew this would feel the most confident and premium.

 
 
 
 
 
 

It was important for the plinth to feel just as premium as the bottle it held. We carefully selected materials that reflected contemporary luxury and the whisky making process such as wood and silver.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

To encourage people to stop and admire the product we encased the bottle in a black wooden frame with a convex spherical glass window.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

We paired the wood with contrasting mirror finished polished steel bands. Each metal strip was laser etched with an ornate illustrative repeat pattern.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

‘Tamdhu’ & ’50’ were metal form cut, placed on raised struts and finished in black gloss to give a high end feel.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Strip lighting was incorporated into the plinth behind the bottle illuminating the golden whisky colour.
